About Me

To learn a little about me in 30 seconds watch my animoto video!

My name is Christa Lezanic.  I currently attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania for Middle Level – Math Education.  I have always wanted to be a teacher, and after observing some classrooms, I realized that middle school was exactly where I wanted to be, and math has always been my favorite subject.  I hope to someday become a teacher who can impact their students’ lives in the ways some of my great teachers have impacted my life. Below is a picture of my class of Middle Level Education Majors.

Where I’m From
Inspired by George Ella Lyon
I’m from a place with changing seasons,
with warm, sunny summers and cold, snowy winters.
I’m from playing in a big backyard,
and jumping in puddles in the rain.
I’m from vacations to the beach every summer,
where the sun is warm and the sand feels perfect between my toes.
I’m from a world of sports,
where the basketballs are never flat and the running shoes never clean.
I’m from loving parents who were always there for me,
and in the middle of two sisters where nothing was ever quite my own.
I’m from Grandma’s house on the weekends,
and spaghetti dinner on Sundays.
I’m from a place that made me who I am,
and I would never change

Where I’m from.

My family is very important to me.  I have two sisters, one older and one younger, making me the middle child.  My older sister’s name is Heather.  She’s two years older than me.  My younger sister’s name is Jenna, and she’s three years younger than me.  Growing up in between two sisters was never easy, but we made it through and we’re closer than ever.  In the picture below you can see my sister Heather on the left, then me, my cousin Devin, my sister Jenna, and my cousin Danielle on the right.

I literally grew up with my cousins.  When we were younger we would all spend every weekend at my grandma’s house.  We did this every weekend since before I can remember up through high school.  As a result we became very close.  Danielle, Devin, Jenna, and I are especially close.  We are like best friends, and when we get together we have so much fun!

My favorite place to go on vacation is Daytona Beach, Florida.  My parents have been taking us there since before I can remember.  My dad used to go there growing up with his parents, so the tradition has carried on in our family.  Now my parents and grandparents each own their own condo on the beach, so we can go down there whenever we want.  My parents usually go at least three times a year, and I try to go as many times as I can.  I usually go once or twice during the summer.  I love going there, and I love the beach.  Every time I go I wish I could stay.  My favorite place to live would be by the beach!

Daytona Beach, Florida

My favorite thing to eat is Buffalo wings.  I will eat them anywhere, anytime as long as they have tons of sauce.  They are so good! 🙂

Sports are also a big part of my life.  My dad was a high school basketball coach, and some of my first memories are going to his basketball games at Penns Manor.  Then when I was in third grade I started up a year and played on the fourth grade team.  I played the whole way from third through eighth grade.  When I started high school I chose to join the cross country team, the swim team, and the track team.  A part of me wishes that I would have stuck with basketball the whole way through, but I made a lot of memories on the cross country, swimming, and track teams that I will never forget.

This is a picture of our cross country team.  Both the girls and the boys won the heritage conference that year.  The girls team was actually undefeated.  We were the best team in the conference and the county.  My freshman year on the team I actually came in first overall at the heritage conference meet, and I went to states.  The thing I remember most about cross country though are the friendships I made on the team.

Even though I don’t play any sports now, I still enjoy them.  I especially like the Pittsburgh sports, mainly the Steelers.  I have never been to a Steelers game, but I hope to go someday.  In the mean time I root for them and watch on television.  I also like going to Pirates games, and recently started watching Pens games as well.

Below, on the left, is a picture of my dog, Mickey.  He doesn’t like to be dressed up, but I did for this picture anyway! 😉 He is a mix between a Tiny Toy Fox Terrier and a Miniature Rat Terrier.  We thought he looked like a rat, which is why we named him Mickey, after Mickey Mouse.  He is the only boy in my family, and he gets the most attention out of anyone!

Above, on the right, is a picture of my cat, Tara.  She is a Muted Calico, and I have had her since I was in the first grade.  She is almost 15 years old now.  She loves attention and is the sweetest cat in the world!

Last, but in no way least, this is a picture of me and Tim, my boyfriend.  He’s the one person I can always count on to be there for me, and he makes me very happy.

Well, now you know a little about me! 🙂

Wings, the beach, sports, and pets…those are a few of my favorite things too! I think I’d eat buffalo wing flavored ice cream if it was available! 🙂 Your Mickey reminds me of my Buddy…he is also a terrier mix, though I think he is more rat terrier than anything else. Good math teachers are always in short supply…it is so good to know that we have a cohort here at IUP of students who LOVE math and truly want to TEACH it! 🙂
